Elle was vice captain for the academy throughout 2018 and broke into the women’s squad late in the season. She was then promoted to the full squad in 2019 and is known for her strong work ethic and attitude. She joined the squad as a back rower and became a useful utility at centre and wing too as the Rhinos went on to win the Challenge Cup and Grand Final titles in 2019 (Frain coming off the bench in both).
In 2021, she appeared 12 times and improved her try tally to five, plus she also started in Leeds' Grand Final appearance against St Helens. Although she made a strong start to 2022 by helping the side reach the Challenge Cup Final and win three of their four opening league matches, Frain was unavailable for the remainder of the season. Despite a short spell on the sidelines through injury at the start of the 2023 campaign, the back rower bounced back to notably come off the bench at Wembley in the first Women's Challenge Cup Final to be played at the venue in one of 11 appearances.
2024 saw the back rower ruled out through injury, but she aims at a return in 2025 under Lois Forsell.
Playing her junior rugby at Birstall Victoria and Dewsbury Moor, Elle is following in her great grandfather’s footsteps in playing Rugby League. She enjoyed success with her school team St John Fisher, before joining the Rhinos. In 2017, she won the Year 11 Yorkshire Championship and Year 11 National Championship, scoring a 90 metre try in the latter.
