Rhinos smash through million mark in record time for second successive year
For the second consecutive year, Leeds Rhinos have set a new record for the club's official YouTube channel hitting one million views as fans continue to consume and engage with the Rhinos' range of live, long-form and short videos in high numbers.
Since launching in June 2012, the club's account has exceeded one million views in each of the last seven years, thanks to the introduction of the flagship Behind the Game feature, increased match highlights covering all grades across the Men's and Women's teams, podcasts, live match coverage and additional features taking fans behind the scenes at the club. After notably reaching the milestone viewing figure in record time in July 2025, the club has smashed its own record by three months in 2026 as the channel has averaged 254,932 views per month (compared with a 143,605 average in 2025). March 2026 proved to be a major month in particular, as fans viewed content over 348,844 times - a record for a single month since January 2019.
The emergence of YouTube Shorts has been a major source of viewership in 2026, with content generating 404,664 views. Whether it is classic tries, fun content with men's and women's players, key match moments or the post-game team song, fans engaged the most with the team song from the derby day win over Bradford (25,880 views), as well as Kallum Watkins' Birthday short which totalled 19,000+ views.
A continuing trend from 2025 ranks Match Highlights as the most popular piece of longer-form content with 67,554 views. Fans were quick to tune into the highlights of the club's two testimonial outings during pre-season, watching Cameron Smith's Testimonial win over Bradford 25,818 times and the young Rhinos' outing against Castleford Tigers in Brad Singleton's Testimonial 10,897 times. The Challenge Cup win over Widnes Vikings (10,784 views) and the Las Vegas win over Hull KR (4,947) were also key highlights fans have enjoyed.
Outside of the Men's team, fans have stayed in touch with the club's other teams too. Women's highlights have been viewed 3,676 times - led by the opening Challenge Cup win over Leigh (1,158 views) - plus Reserves highlights have been watched 12,681 times, Men's and Women's Academy highlights have totalled 6,501 times and Scholarship match action has brought in 9,947 views. Key matches include the Reserves matches against Wakefield, Bradford and Leigh that accounted for 2,000+ views each, Academy clashes against Castleford and Leigh and Scholarship outings against Bradford and Leigh.
Comments from inside the Rhinos camp have also been closely followed, with Brad Arthur's press conferences totalling 66,679 views and player interviews watched 55,866 times. Averaging 2,700 views, Brad's post-match comments have been a key piece of content as the Leeds head coach's comments after the Wakefield Cup defeat (5,806 views), Hull KR win in Vegas (4,433 views), and matches against Leigh, Hull FC and Warrington (all over 3,000 views) have been particular highlights. New signing Jack Bird's comments before his debut against Hull and try-scoring performance against Warrington have been popular too with over 2,000 views each, along with interviews with Maika Sivo too.
Sivo's stellar season saw the star winger's Inside the Camp feature bring in the viewers with 8,293 views, the most by one episode in the club's new Inside the Camp feature, produced by RAM FILMS. With 11 episodes in total averaging 2,752 views each, the show has been an instant hit - as has the club's new Matchday Live feature, which has been watched nearly 34,000 times as fans prepare for each Rhinos game. An enhanced full length Behind the Game is now available first on the club's new membership platform, the free Bitesize releases have brought in 27,341 views, led by the Vegas trip and Cameron Smith's testimonial.
Finally, the club's podcast network continues to thrive in year two as review and Q&A episodes of The Leeds Rhinos Podcast and The Knock On Effect, hosted by Jarrod O'Connor and Tom Nicholson-Watton, have totalled 50,551 views. When Jack Bird joined the podcast shortly after arriving at the club, his episode generated the most views out of the 27 new episodes released this year with 2,918 views, followed closely by two specials from the Las Vegas trip with Harry Newman and Dr Sam Lyles, and Jarrod O'Connor and Matt Cook.
Other key highlights include the trailer of the second series of Spirit of the Rhinos (5,643 views) and the live stream of Cameron Smith's Testimonial (3,521 views) too as the club looks to make the next move towards two million views for the first time ever.
