Getting to know: Huddersfield Giants

Under new head coach Jim Lenihan, Super League's bottom club Huddersfield Giants look to make a bright start as they take on Leeds Rhinos at AMT Headingley this Friday night, kick off 8pm.

New Faces

Cole Geyer

Queensland Cup Apps: 57 | Oldham Tries: 5 | Debut: vs St Helens

Signed for the remainder of the season on loan from Oldham, hooker Cole Geyer provides a more experienced option behind Zac Woolford at the number nine position for the Giants.

Son of long-serving Melbourne Storm forward Mark, the 24-year-old brings two Queensland Cup titles with him to the Giants after starring for Brisbane and Burleigh in their Cup Final runs in 2023 and 2025 (the former alongside new Giants team mate Tristan Powell). Later moving to Oldham to test himself on foreign soil, five tries in 14 games saw the pivot catch the eye of the Giants, who brought him in until the end of the year to challenge Woolford and Connor Carr ahead of Jim Lenihan's arrival. Against St Helens last weekend, he made 101 metres from six carries, one line break and one tackle break.

Lee Kershaw

Career Apps: 109 | Career Tries: 42 | Debut: vs St Helens

In his final week of a short-term loan spell from parent club Hull KR, winger Kershaw got the opportunity to add Super League minutes to his tally in 2026 as the Giants struggle in the outside backs department. Rising to be a consistent try scorer in four seasons at Wakefield between 2019 and 2023, he recorded 18 tries in 50 games as Belle Vue before finishing 2024 as one of London Broncos' highest try scorers with seven scores for Mike Eccle's newly promoted side. Later picked up by Hull KR, he has played once in two seasons for the first team, but took the opportunity to feature on loan at Castleford in 2025 and now Huddersfield in 2026.

Lewis Jagger

Giants Apps: 2 | Giants Tries: 1 | Debut: vs Leigh

Despite making his club debut in the closing game of the 2025 season, 18-year-old Jagger got the opportunity off the back of an ongoing injury crisis to get a starting shirt in round 11.

The latest Academy product to break into a senior squad which is down on numbers, he has been largely utilised in the Reserves up until last weekend. Off the back of committing to a first-team contract back in January, he was one of the starlets throughout his time in the club's youth programme where he was handed a Yorkshire appearance last year.
