Brad Arthur nominated for Betfred Super League Coach of the Year

Leeds Rhinos' Brad Arthur, Toulouse Olympique's Sylvain Houles and Wigan Warriors' Matt Peet are all in the running to be named Betfred Super League Coach of the Year.  

The trio are named on a three-man shortlist to win the award after all 14 of the competition’s head coaches were asked to vote for their top pick. 

The winner will be announced at the Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday. 

Arthur has been named after taking Leeds to new levels of performance in only his second full season in charge at AMT Headingley. 

The side stands just 80 minutes away from Old Trafford and held top spot for most of the campaign until Wigan ousted them at the death. 

With six players in the Betfred Super League Dream Team, including competition top try-scorer Maika Sivo, Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel contender Lachie Miller and the creative talent Jake Connor, Australian Arthur has witnessed his side deliver some thrilling performances. 

Houles earns his place on the shortlist after overseeing a remarkable season for Toulouse.  

Having led the French club's return to the top-flight, he has defied the odds to steer them to a best-ever finish of eighth in the 14-club competition. 

Earning widespread praise for their resilience, ambition and style of play, Toulouse – still only in their second season of Super League action – delivered ten wins and even finished higher than long-established French rivals Catalans Dragons. 

Peet completes the shortlist after once again guiding Wigan to the League Leaders’ Shield – his third in four years at the helm – and has done so having also navigated a successful charge to Wembley where the Warriors lifted the Challenge Cup. 

They face Wakefield Trinity on Saturday for a place in the October 3 Grand Final and on a remarkable club Super League record of 15 successive wins with the likes of Bevan French and Jai Field once more lighting up the stage.
