Leeds Rhinos Reserves secured back to back wins with six tries in each half to defeat Huddersfield Giants 62-4 at Laund Hill.
The Rhinos Reserves side included a number of familiar faces with Ethan O'Neill and Jeremiah Mata'utia both in the starting line up for the first team but the vast majority of the team was an Under 21 side, which bodes well for the future of the Rhinos.
Leeds opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Presley Cassell made the most of a break by Tom Nicholson-Watton before powering his way over from close range. The Rhinos crossed again two minutes later when centre Ned McCormack broke through the line near half way then found his younger brother Fergie in support to score. Harley Thomas converted both tries to give the Rhinos a 12-0 lead.
Half back Harry Smith then put centre Oscar Brown over for the Rhinos third try before Cassell scored his second from close range. Thomas was unable to convert both Rhinos but the visitors were good value for their 20-0 lead.
Cassell then turned provider as he offloaded to Tom Nicholson-Watton and hte prop had a walk in for the try, which Thomas converted. The Rhinos final try of the first half came from winger Riley Lumb following a brilliant pick up by Ned McCormack off his boot laces before offloading to the winger to score.
Huddersfield were reduced to 12 players when their prop was sin binned for a late hit on Jacob Stead but they held on for the remainder of the half and the Rhinos led 30-0 at the break.
Just six minutes into the second half, Oscar Brown scored his second try after he had initially broken from inside his own half to set up the position. He was there two tackles later to go over for the try.
Fergie McCormack nearly scored himself after a long range break, he dummied to replacement hooker Elliot Fox and went for the line, only to be caught short. However, Leeds kept their composure and one tackle later, McCormack floated a ball over the top for Lumb to score.
Lumb then completed his hat trick as he supported the break from Thomas to score in the corner. Thomas converted one of the three tries and the Rhinos now led 44-0 after 52 minutes.
Fox did get a well deserved try when he went from dummy half near the line before winger Marcus Qareqare was put in time and space by a brilliant miss pass from Fergie McCormack to put his team mate over in the corner. Thomas converting both tries.
Joe Diskin, just after returning from the bench, kept the scoreboard ticking over when he supported on the inside to finish off a long range team break with Thomas' conversion giving the visitors a 62-0 lead after 70 minutes.
Huddersfield did get a consolation try with five minutes to go but Leeds were good value for their 62-4 victory.
