Full back Richard Mathers tasted glory with both Leeds and Warrington during his career. Mathers made his debut for Leeds in 2002 but he also spent time on loan with the Wolves that year, before becoming a regular under Tony Smith in 2003. He was a crucial part of the club's 2004 Grand Final winning campaign, scoring six times in 29 appearances, including the Play Off semi final win over Wigan, and added a World Club winners medal to his collection a year later.
He left the club following the 2006 campaign to move to Australia and then after only one season Wigan brought Mathers back to Super League. Ahead of the 2009 season, the chance to join up with former coach Smith was too tempting and the full back signed for Warrington, where he went on to win the Challenge Cup twice and make 47 appearances.
