Daryl Powell joined the Rhinos in 1997 as part of a seven player deal with cash strapped Keighley Cougars. He made his debut the following year and enjoyed a swansong to his career at the Rhinos, winning the 1999 Challenge Cup and appearing in the 1998 Grand Final and 2000 Challenge Cup Final. He was capped 33 times for Great Britain and was also Head Coach of the Rhinos between 2001 and 2003, standing down after leading the side to another Challenge Cup Final in 2003. He played over 450 games during his career with Sheffield, Keighley and Leeds.
