A highly sought after youngster, Marcus eventually sign for Leeds midway through the first Super League season after a tribunal decided the final figure Leeds had to pay Huddersfield.

At his best under Graham Murray, when he was used as an impact replacement to allow Iestyn Harris to move up from full back to the halves, St Hilaire scored some sensational tries during his career. A try scorer at Wembley in 1999, he scored 39 tries in 111 appearances for the club.
