Grand Final: Finalist 2023
Peterborough-born Kaiya Glynn plays for the Rhinos alongside being a serving soldier based at Catterick as a combat medical technician.
She switched to Rugby League with the Army in 2018 after starting her sporting career playing football. After meeting the Army's head coach Woz Broadley, Glynn tried out the sport and hit the ground running as the team’s top points scorer in 2021 and had another standout season in 2022, helping her team to their 13th consecutive Inter Services title and was once again their top points scorer and players' player of the year. Her efforts also earned the forward selection for the England Community Lions in 2022.
Having played 20 games, she joined the Rhinos in 2023 along with Army teammates Bethan Dainton and Jenna Greening, and marked her debut with a try against Huddersfield Giants in the league. She only missed three games all season, featuring mostly as an impact off the bench, and appeared in her first Grand Final at the end of the season in the defeat to York.
An ankle injury suffered in the early stages of the Challenge Cup ruled Glynn out for most of the 2024 campaign, but she hit the ground running on her return as she came off the bench in five of Leeds' final six games. That included the side's Play Off semi final defeat to York Valkyrie.
Away from Rugby League, Kaiya also enjoys football and snowboarding. Her biggest influence is her mum, who has experienced many adversities in life and never let that stop her, and her best advice for aspiring players is to jump in to the unknown and continue trying to learn, take every opportunity that comes and enjoy the process.
