One of the many Rugby League talents to come from the Siddal club, Zak Lloyd was fast-tracked into the Rhinos senior squad to make his Betfred Super League debut at the age of 18.

The forward’s talent was never in doubt from when he stepped into the Leeds youth system in 2023 as a Scholarship player. Two tries against Hull KR in his first appearance for the Under-16s saw Lloyd end the season with four tries in six games, as well as 11 goals. A year later, he was the top try scorer for the Rhinos Scholarship with a total of eight, and added 13 goals to also top the points chart. Amongst a run of seven consecutive tries in four games, he recorded a highlight hat-trick against Bradford in a 68-6 result.

Amongst the players who progressed into the Academy ahead of the 2025 season, Lloyd showed outstanding progression across both the Under-18s and Reserves competition. 

Featuring at second row and loose forward as part of a hard-hitting pack that reached the Academy Grand Final for the first time in three years, he only missed two games and recorded notable performances against Bradford (scoring three tries) and Leigh (four tries) as he accumulated 12 tries and 38 goals. For the Reserves, he was one of two players to feature in every game as the side achieved Grand Final success against Warrington; Lloyd started in the second row. His try-scoring transferred across as he touched down six times in games against Leigh, Warrington, Hull KR, Salford and Castleford. 

Despite being eligible for both the Academy and Reserves competitions in 2026, the forward spent most of the campaign in the Reserves with ten appearances. After also adding on two games on loan with Hunslet at the start of the campaign, he got his breakthrough chance with the Leeds first team in July as he came off the bench in a 46-0 win over Toulouse. Impressing the home crowd, he went on to feature against Leigh, York and Wigan off the bench to cap a breakout season.
