Debut: Vs Warrington Wolves (A) 16/02/2023
Leeds signed outside back Luis Roberts from Leigh Leopards on a two-year contract ahead of the 2023 season.
During his first campaign in blue and amber, Roberts played for the Rhinos first team, Reserves and also got game time on dual registration with Bradford. The back ran out ten times for Leeds, scoring his sole Super League try in defeat to Hull KR at Sewell Group Craven Park, but the Reserves competition saw him cross seven times to finish as the Rhinos' top try scorer.
2024 saw the centre feature in the first twelve rounds of the season on the wing as he scored three total tries in games against St Helens both home and away, Warrington and London. Roberts also featured four times in the Reserves, scoring four tries in total. He also started on the wing in the first team's final game of the year against Hull KR before departing the club at the end of the season.
Leigh-born, Roberts made his debut in Super League with Salford in 2020 before joining Swinton Lions in 2021 where he was named Championship Young Player of the Year with ten tries in 18 appearances, despite the Lions relegation. That form prompted a move to his home town club in 2022, however with limited opportunities, he has spent the season at Widnes Vikings on loan.
Having played for Wales at junior levels, he was included in the Wales team for their midseason international against France in 2022, as well as the Rugby League World Cup squad, although he didn't feature in a game.
